Management Information Systems (MIS) plays a critical role in how companies function today and in many cases may determine how successful a company may become. According to Bell’s Law, new classes of computers are emerging every ten years or so. This leads to advances in technology, software and change in user needs.
We have seen popular companies fail due to their lack of adaptability to the evolving technology. Some examples include Blockbuster, Nokia or taxi cabs. These companies have struggled to keep their competitive edge by failing to utilize or implement effective MIS.
During this project, our group will analyze how SHI International uses MIS to successfully market their products and services to current and prospective clients and show why they are considered a leading technology company.
Description of Company
SHI International Corp. was co-founded in 1989 by Thai Lee who is currently the CEO and President of the company with the headquarters being Somerset, NJ. SHI provides a wide range of services such as cloud-based and IT infrastructure solutions, global cybersecurity and other IT products and services. The company is now known as one of the largest Minority & Woman-Owned Business Enterprises in the United States. The customer base of the company is very diverse including large and small businesses, government agencies, healthcare facilities and educational institutions. Manager Bio
Our managerial point of contact from SHI International is Marketing Program Manager, Wesley Krempel. Wesley attended Rider University from 2012 through 2016 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Marketing and went on to begin his career as an inside Account Manager with SHI International in September of 2016. Working from SHI’s Somerset office, Wesley spent a little over a year in this role before moving onto a full time Marketing Specialist position. He continued to develop his professional skills, working his way through the ranks to Senior Marketing Specialist, and finally to the role he is currently serving as the Marketing Program Manager. Wesley’s responsibilities as the Marketing Program Manager include developing and managing a marketing strategy for SHI’s digital presence and social media campaigns. Working with top notch market partners, Wesley’s team is responsible for generating an increase in SHI’s brand recognition and online engagement.
