Shi Technology has an extremely strong social media presence on Instagram. There are regular posts made not only about the milestones of the business but also in relation to the community and current events. Recommendation would be to expand their social media presence by making an effort to be involved on other platforms as well, particularly LinkedIn. In order to reach more potential clients and working professionals, it was beneficial to make more of a presence on these such platforms. LinkedIn is geared towards professionals and sharing information about break through and new developments in different industries. LinkedIn also offers advertisements about workshops and skills training to help business professionals. Shi Technology could use this to help spread the word about their summits and conferences that they offer where participants can simply connect to digitally and are not required to attend in person. Advertising their partnerships and connecting with their partners through this platform could spread their business and reach the companies they need to connect with.
Further Software Development:
Continuing to invest in furthering the development of software not only for client use, but for SHI’s use as well is an imperative development the company must continue to pursue. With the continuing emergence of software like artificial intelligence, the information technology world is going through a bit of a modern day renaissance. Soon enough, those who do not adapt their software to be the most up to date and effective, will ultimately fall behind. By investing into artificial intelligence software and working to integrate it into their products, SHI will continue to be the IT juggernaut it is today well into the future. Software is ever changing and the top developers are always racing to have the next best thing. Based on the history of SHI as a company thus far, it should be no surprise that they would be willing to invest heavily into these types of developments.
SHI International should improve their BYOD policy. A BYOD policy is the company’s policy for an employee using their own device to work on, whether it is their laptop, tablet or mobile device. SHI currently provides all computers/laptops to their employees and most employees work a hybrid schedule. I believe that different employees have different preferences and employees may be more efficient on computers of their choosing or computers they are familiar with. Also, an employee in the marketing department may require different hardware than an employee in the sales department. However, SHI does need to worry about security concerns. In order to address security concerns and the BYOD policy, a company should educate their employees on connecting to secure Wi-Fi networks only. Employees should also be instructed of a password policy with strong passwords and using multi-factor authentication. Occasionally people misplace devices or devices get stolen, so the company would need to have the capability of remotely wiping any lost or stolen devices so sensitive company information is safe.
Future of Hardware Development:
As an IT solutions provider, SHI International can enhance its hardware development capabilities through various strategies. One of those investments is in Research and Development (R&D) efforts that can foster innovation in new hardware solutions and using collaborations with hardware manufacturers, startups, or academic institutions can accelerate the development of hardware in this IT market.
